Abstract

Modern society pressures the educational systems. Technologies transformed industries requiring competencies like computational thinking (CT), a new methodology of solving problems in a technology-rich, multifunctional, adaptable, diversified and engaging environment. The relationship between learning spaces (LS) and the process of CT is uncleared. Our case study draws on the grounded theory answering the question: How does LS contribute to the process of CT? We aim to explicit the process of CT in a context of creating a CT challenge, and to identify the characteristics of LS that contribute to this process. Using a qualitative methodology, results shows that students applied the CT model using concepts and approaches which are the foundations of the 21 century learning.
