Predicting School Innovation: The Role of Academic Press and Collective Efficacy, Mediated by Faculty Trust

Fri, April 5, 2:25 to 3:55pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to examine the role of academic press (AP), collective ‎teacher efficacy (CTE), and faculty trust (FT) in predicting school innovation (SI). In ‎addition, we explored the extent to which FT mediates the association between AP and ‎CTE with SI. In all, 1009 teachers from 79 schools in northern Israel completed ‎anonymous self-report questionnaires about AO and innovation. Aggregation, reliability, ‎descriptive statistics, bi-variate correlations, and SEM analyses were performed to analyze ‎the data. Results show that the AO constructs were positively correlated, and that trust ‎mediates the relationship between CTE and SI. The study results confirm that AO has ‎significant predictive value in school innovation, and highlight the importance of trust in ‎achieving SI.‎
