This qualitative study focuses on teacher candidates conducting action research during their student teaching experience in a professional development school. The purpose of the study is to learn about the experiences of these teacher candidates (n=11) through interviews and to see how mentor teachers (n=4) view the experience of these teacher candidates. Both individual and group interviews were held and each interviewee completed a qualitative survey. The grand tour question posed to teacher candidates was: What is it like to conduct action research in your mentor teacher’s classroom? The grand tour question posed to mentor teachers was: What is it like to have a teacher candidate conduct action research in your classroom?
