Abstract

This study examines the nature of faculty and Muslim college students’ interactions on college campuses. We explore how Muslim students describe faculty’s role in shaping the organizational and structural dimension of campus climate for religious minorities. The findings pinpoint three salient themes and their negative and positive impact on faculty-student interactions of Muslim college students, namely: microaggressions directed at Muslim students, Muslim students being singled out as the spokespersons for the whole Muslim community, and faculty who are proactive in providing religious accommodations to Muslim students.
