Sat, April 6, 4:10 to 6:10pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 205B

Abstract

This presentation shares the results of an historical and geospatial analysis of the special education data from one urban school district to inform decision-making for increasing access to general education placements and improving outcomes for students with disabilities (SWD). Using Critical Race Spatial Analysis and DisCrit frameworks and the analysis of historical U.S. Home Owners Loan Corporation redline maps, the associated security area descriptions, and GIS mapping methods and, we concentrate on mapping historical geographic trends at the nexus of demographics, educational environment, and service delivery models for SWD in one Urban School District.
