Sun, April 7, 11:50am to 1:20pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall G

Abstract

This research investigates current reform movements in Educator Preparation Programs through Foucauldian Genealogy and discourse analysis centered on standardization of practice and the language employed by current reformers in this landscape. Findings reveal resonances with standardization efforts in varied contexts, utilizing subaltern agrarian studies and P-12 reform analysis juxtaposed to current conceptualizations and implementations of reform in the preparation of teacher in the US context. Implications for professionalism, evidence based outcomes, using standards to assess teacher quality and curriculum are explored.
