The purpose of this paper is to introduce a methodology for approaching organizational analysis. This paper comes from a larger study (Author, 2018) in which the Institutional Logics Perspective (ILP) (Thornton, Ocasio, & Lounsbury, 2012) was integrated with Carspecken’s (1996) critical ethnographic theory and methods in order to reach understandings of how a small, progressive private school worked to maintain communitarian, democratic, and social/environment/economic justice values while also participating in the state’s voucher program. In this paper, I explain the metatheory informing the methodology, as well as analytical techniques and ways in which this methodology can provide new insights into organizational analysis.
