Foreign-born faculty make up 20% of all higher education faculty in the U.S. This figure continues to rise, with particular impact on STEM and business related disciplines. Yet little is known about how these faculty experience teaching and learning on their campuses. With particular focus on diversifying of curriculum, how do foreign-born faculty teaching in the U.S. experience efforts to bring multicultural perspectives into their courses? Using narrative inquiry, this in-depth study examines the experiences of four faculty in the midwest who intentionally engaged in infusing diversity into their courses. Findings indicate relevance in their international experiences, insight into connecting deeply with students, as well as acute observations by participants of institutional and disciplinary obstacles to equitable outcomes.
