Abstract

Whiteness is a social construct that is ever changing. What has not changed, however, is the innate and persistent nature of whiteness as an act of preservation of power for a small group of people. In this paper, I critique the innate whiteness in Chicago’s selective enrollment schools. My critique is based on the overall enrolment process for these schools, the geographic location of these schools, and their existence of these schools as an option for a select group of students.
