This paper reports the findings of a case study implemented in a university writing course at an American university. This class was situated within the onset of resistance movements that have resulted in public protests since Trump’s election victory, and it is framed by “glocal” education scholarship that encourages a critical merging of global economic and socio-political issues into local classroom contexts. Curriculum was designed to allow students to interrogate an “America first” agenda. Findings point to the students’ overall enthusiasm of the course and its relevance as part of a university curriculum. However, there was resistance to the course theme that fell along race and gender lines.
