Abstract

The goal of this research is to begin the conversation of continuum of Black Educational Reform Movements, and highlight it against the canonical Educational reform movements that are studied in education programs across the U.S. This project is motivated by a desire to challenge the history of reform that suggests that Black communities were largely uninvolved in educational reform efforts and provide evidence for the strong Black agency and leadership that not only occurred during the time of Brown but has continuously existed in multiple iterations across history. Ultimately this work aims to create a link between Black Educational reform phenomenon and construct a continuum of the “Black Educational Reform Movement”.
