Abstract

The League of Innovative Schools launched in 2011 with 21 schools joining from across five New England states. Today there are 140 League schools, with the majority serving high school grades. The League represents a network improvement community designed to catalyze school reform. We conducted a difference-in-difference analysis using linear regression and multilevel mixed regression analysis to assess the effects of participation in the League on student outcomes. Findings indicate that participating in the League has a small, positive effect on graduation rates as well as on the percentage of students meeting proficiency on high school science tests. These findings should be interpreted with caution as the data are limited and the effects vary across measures and approach to modeling.
