Effects of Female Scientist Modeling Teaching on Children's Scientist Imagine and Scientific Career Awareness

Abstract

This study explored the effects of Female Scientist Modeling Teaching on children’s scientist imagine and scientific career awareness. Thirty-two 4th graders were randomly selected to join a 10-week intervention and formed the experimental group (EG), another 30 4th graders were randomly recruited as the comparison group (CG). All participants completed Student Questionnaire to measure their images on scientists and awareness towards scientific career. Six target children from the EG with either the highest or the lowest scores on the pretest were observed and interviews during this study. We found that EG’s scores on imagine of scientist and scientific career awareness significantly outperformed their counterparts.
