The instructional methods for teaching science do not traditionally utilize arts-based methods such as storytelling in an inquiry based biology laboratory. This research examines how students enter the biology laboratory with misconceptions, and if the laboratory exercise enabled them to resolve their misconceptions or develop new misconceptions. The utilization of storytelling in a biology laboratory exercise allowed students time, and a platform to resolve their misconceptions and did not create misconceptions for students who already exhibited strong content knowledge.
