Sat, April 6, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 600 Level, Room 604

Abstract

This study used the systematic review method to examine how researchers in the literacy field have conceptualized the notion of digital literacy/ies. Researchers conducted a systematic search of the relevant literature by using the keywords digital literacy and digital literacies in the following representative 10 journals listed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) in the field of literacy research and identified 37 studies suitable for inclusion. Researchers found some results: 1. overall trend, 2. conceptual clarity, 3. theoretical framework and research method, and 4. types of digital media and their affordance. We believe that this review will provide valuable insight into the ways researchers have defined, researched, and aligned theoretical perspectives to examine digital literacy.
