Innovation to Improve Teacher Preparation

Tue, April 9, 8:00 to 9:30am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall G

Abstract

Field placements are a critical element within teacher preparation programs as they provide teacher candidates the opportunity to apply evidence-based practices within their teacher preparation program. In order for these placements to be the most effective in preparing teacher candidates, teacher educators must support the teacher candidate to apply evidence-based practices within field placements. One type of support with positive outcomes is coaching. During this presentation we will discuss our pre-service teacher preparation research by identifying the rationale for our work and the methods we used. We will discuss our results and how our work supports previous work and adds to the literature. Additionally, we will identify implications for future research and practice.
