Abstract

This article addresses the importance and place of culturally responsive and relationship-based pedagogies as a foundation to quality teaching and learning. This exploration is framed through an examination of these processes as they are presented in the recently developed Masters of Teaching and Learning (MTchLrn) program in Aotearoa\New Zealand (NZ). In examining this work, we aim to review the ways in which candidates were integrated into the theory and practices necessary to develop a culturally responsive and relationship-based pedagogical stance (Bishop and Berryman, 2009) with and for the diverse learners in their classrooms.
