Sun, April 7, 11:50am to 1:20pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 205C

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the teaching-learning process of informatics in Korea, where initiative has been announced recently for K-12 education. Based on this, this research aims to investigate the influence of academic self-efficacy, teacher support and deep approach to learning on computational thinking. The participants were 74 freshman of lower secondary school students. PLS path modeling was employed to analyze the data, and the key findings revealed were as follows: First, academic self-efficacy and teacher support had a significant influence on deep approach to learning. Second, academic self-efficacy and deep approach to learning had a significant influence on computational thinking. This research suggested the strategies and implications for enhancing computational thinking of informatics in secondary education.
