Two Leadership and Instructional Coaches' Perception of Their Roles in Turnaround Campus Improvement

Fri, April 5, 4:20 to 6:20pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Room 802B

Abstract

The literature related to coaching mainly had been focused on physical resources such as Campus Improvement Plans (CIPs) and curriculum (product and outcome) with very little published research having been focused on human resources such as coaches, teachers and principals (people and process). Based on a case study of two leadership and instructional coaches in underperforming schools, we examined the results of the coaches’ interviews related to the different roles the coaches’ play in coaching. Specifically, we will share coaches’ intuition and how coaches arrive at a decision to intervene in differing situations with leaders and teachers on a campus.
