My ambitious rather daunting purpose for this paper is to make the case for the place of semiotics in new materialism, agential realism specifically, and suggesting the consideration of the triadic semiotic theory of pragmatist philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce as a more expansive way to think about semiotics. I am not suggesting replacing Barad with Peirce; I am suggesting that conversations about what these philosophical positions offer for each other would be generative and innovative.
