With an increasingly diverse student population, including many Latina/os, the diversification of the professoriate becomes all the more pressing given the critical role faculty play in the academic and personal development of students. Understanding factors associated with securing a faculty position among Latina/o doctoral earners can provide insight into diversifying the professoriate. Using national data, this study examines the factors associated with increased odds of securing employment as a faculty member upon doctoral degree completion among Latina/os. Several institutional characteristics and doctoral experiences increased the likelihood of securing a faculty position. Building upon these findings, institutions can provide the requisite support that can lead to more Latina/os successfully entering the professoriate.
