Assessment instruments in higher education should delineate learning experiences in favor of critical and reflexive thinking and guide the students to solve problem-based situations. This research analyzed and discussed the assessment instruments of seven lecturers from Physical Education undergraduate. Through a semi-structured interview and content analysis, there were fourteen different instruments, the most recurrents were: participation in practical classes; organization of festivals and / or gymnastics championships; article’s point of view, assertive tests, dissertative exams, criticism regarding observation of gymnatsics classes in different contexts. We conclude that all lecturers have four to five diferents instruments in the same discipline, self-assessment and peer-assessment were almost not used evaluation, practical experience and knowing-in-action was highlighted in the sample studied.
