As technology continues to develop and provide access to various information, the rise in post-truth information and its influence on one’s perceptions/knowledge continues to be an educational concern. While there has been a focus on ways to balance post-truth information, there continues to be a need to explain the process students undergo when problematizing and transforming preexisting perceptions/knowledge. This study explored different perception/knowledge shifts that occurred through first-hand interactions in an educational setting with student from diverse backgrounds. Findings indicate that interactions provide space and different information to challenge and transform students’ thinking and help them develop more complex perceptions/knowledge. Furthermore, findings speak to the complex and recursive process required to transform perceptions/knowledge indicating the need for active student involvement.
