Abstract

Literacy is a vital skill that is being promoted by legislation and programs across the country. However, these programs place higher value on the cognitive view of literacy. This study examined how social aspects of peer review influence college writers’ in providing and receiving peer feedback. The study utilized partner feedback, group feedback, and feedback facilitated with the screencast technology. The study found that social contexts impact student writers of various skills when giving and receiving feedback. However, by utilizing the screencast technology student writers were empowered to provide authentic feedback to their peers.
