LGBT Educators' Perceptions of Homophobia and Transphobia and Policy Implications for School and District Leaders

Abstract

This study aims to understand the climate for LGBT educators so that administrators utilize best practices related to policy enactment, advocacy, and enforcement (in this case, relating specifically to creating an LGBT-inclusive climate in schools). While improvements have been made since 2007 and 2011, LGBTQ educators continue to experience barriers to safety and support, including the existence of homophobia and transphobia in schools.
