Creating Meaningful Evidence-Based Narratives Encouraging Reflection Through Team-Based Learning in Higher Education

Sun, April 7, 9:55 to 11:25am, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Floor: Second Floor, Kent

Abstract

Narrativity is a foundational structural principal to critical thinking and deep learning (Ercikan and Seixas, 2014). This paper will explore (1) the process of developing a team-based humanities project for undergraduate learners with the goal of creating meaningful evidence-based narratives and (2) student reactions and reflections on the experience. The objectives and purpose of this research are to develop educator resources to guide instructors through the development of TBL assessments using primary sources, and to capture student reactions to the experience of creating and sharing their own evidence-based narratives through both written and digital formats.
