This presentation will share classroom stories of culturally sustaining teaching in early childhood classrooms highlighting the work of teacher-teacher educator dyads (two-person teams) who participated in the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)’s Professional Dyads and Culturally Relevant Teaching (PDCRT) project from 2013-2015. The purpose of the presentation is to take the audience deeply into the process and impact of developing and implementing culturally sustaining literacy teaching, supported by teacher-teacher educator teams in pre-K through grade three classrooms.
