Collaborate, Learn, and Succeed: Increasing Student Success Through Leadership Development and Collaborative Practices

Mon, April 8, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

This paper describes the Collaborate, Learn & Succeed initiative (CLS) and its evaluation design. CLS is an innovative multilayered large-scale initiative that aims to increase school success of all students through two principal mechanisms: (1) the development of superintendents’ and principals’ leadership and (2) the implementation of collaborative communities of practice for superintendents, principals and teachers. This initiative arose from the partnership of a private foundation and the Québec association of school district superintendents. At the third year of its gradual deployment, 60 of the 72 school districts in the province of Québec (Canada) have joined this 7 year initiative (2015-2022). After describing the context, components and theoretical backing of CLS, we present the longitudinal, multilevel, multi-method quasi-experimental evaluation study.
