Cultural Wealth Within Latinx Administrators' Leadership Practices

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify aspects of cultural wealth (Yosso, 2005) that are exhibited by the only four Latinx administrators in a mid-sized, Midwestern, metropolitan school district that contribute to their advocacy practices for Latinx students and families. Four aspects of cultural wealth are explored, including: aspirational, linguistic, familiar, and resistant capital. Findings contribute to an understanding of how cultural wealth might be applied to hiring practices and organizational decision making that promote equity and opportunity in school districts.
