Abstract

Bilingual Learners represent a steadfast growing population within the U.S. school system. With such a large number of BLs in the nation, research that identifies the best methods to educate and aid the BLs in reaching academic success is of the upmost importance. This studied aimed to examine how a One-Way Dual Language Education Program in a school in deep South Texas impacted the reported reading achievement gap for Latino BLs. This study focused on the trajectory of one-way dual language Latino students from a predominately low socio-economic school district performance in the reading standardized state assessment compared to the state averages of all students, English learners, and students coded Title I.
