Abstract

Today, individuals have a multitude of opportunities to learn about racism and white supremacy. While these settings are often multiracial, others have argued for white spaces. Through a Critical Whiteness lens, this paper critiques the concept of white racial dialogue spaces, illustrating how they cater to and reinforce white supremacy. We argue whites in white-only spaces utilize elements of whiteness, such as white privilege, white entitlement, white identity, and white emotionalities to uphold whiteness.
