Fri, April 5, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall G

Abstract

The purpose of this action research study is to create a bridging program for internationally educated teachers (IETs for short) that honors and builds upon their prior training, knowledge, and experiences. Our long term vision is to increase the diversity (racial, cultural, linguistic, etc.) of K-12 teachers in Saskatchewan. This research project will focus on: 1) understanding the socio-political context that informs current educational practices and policies that affect IETs in gaining employment in Saskatchewan 2) understanding the issues and challenges IETs encounter on this journey and 3) developing a bridging program that reflects the needs of IETs and other stakeholders in this province.
