The Practices and Experiences of College Advising Professionals in Public High Schools

Abstract

This multiple case study examined the practices and experiences of college advising professionals from several school-level models to help inform future policy on college advising in public high schools. The experiences of the college advising professionals were unique to the college advising initiative and high school context where the professional worked. Overall, the findings of this study indicate that college advising professionals provide substantial college-related resources, believe that the position is necessary, and need additional training.
