Abstract

Using data from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), multivariate analyses were conducted to examine the connection between the institutional environment, interpersonal environment, and satisfaction for a national sample of 22,969 Black women collegians. The variables in the final regression model explained 29.5% of the variance in Black women collegians’ satisfaction with college. Interestingly, while regression results suggest that measures of both the institutional environment and the interpersonal environment are positive and statistically significant predictors of satisfaction for Black women collegians, measures of the interpersonal environment hold more explanatory power for these students.
