The authors examined teacher perceived challenges following a fourteen-week collaborative curriculum. We examined semi-structured exit interviews from four seventh and eighth grade social studies teachers to determine what challenges they faced during implementation. Using a grounded theory approach we identified four themes, three matching with variables identified as paramount for effective collaboration and the fourth one being identified challenges. Looking at co-occurrences between these larger themes we identified a strong overlap between time/challenge codes, 64%, and time/motivation codes, 21%. The analysis revealed teachers perceiving were highest at the start of the program and lasted over four weeks, longer than many collaborative research programs.
