This study contributes to discussions on how to prepare emerging educational scholars for new demands on researchers to make research more relevant to practice through research-practice partnerships (RPPs). RPPs have been conceptualized and deployed to facilitate learning between researchers and practitioners by having the knowledge developed in their respective domains inform each other through joint work. In order to theorize how RPPs may be leveraged to prepare novice researchers for emerging professional demands, this self-study case-study will describe, from the perspective of graduate students, the learning processes in a diverse set of RPP projects with a pair of university-partnered community schools.
