Integration of Automated Essay Scoring With Creative Writing for ESL Teaching in China Primary School

Abstract

In china, there are some problems in ESL teaching in primary school, such as students’ low-interest, short of thinking activities and so on. The Chinese try to introduce creative writing in ESL teaching for the reason that it can be an effective solution. However, considering the characteristics of creative writing itself, it is difficult to conduct this teaching method in chinese context. This paper try to make the integration of creative writing and Automated Essay Scoring (AES) to support ESL writing teaching. By studying the changes in students’ academic proficiency and attitude during the experiment, demonstrate the effectiveness of the integration, so as to provide a theoretical basis and a model reference for the follow-up study.
