Sun, April 7, 8:00 to 9:30am, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Floor: Lower Concourse, Grand Centre

Abstract

Drawing on preliminary results from a mixed methods research study, this paper examines questions about university students' experiences of term-time work. Our online survey module of undergraduates at a large research university explores their term-time work patterns (including hours and types of work), how they vary by student demographics, and how students’ work experiences are related to academic and other outcomes (e.g., grades, campus engagement, sense of well-being, aspirations). Finding out more about how students navigate school and work is of critical importance in this age of learning while earning.
