A Pedagogy of Transcendence: Black Female Professors Moving Through and Beyond in the Academy

Abstract

This presentation aims to spotlight how Black female professors move through their experiences in the academy. Using phenomenological inquiry, researchers will introduce the concept of the Pedagogy of Transcendence as an approach to navigate the complexities of the higher education labyrinth. P Pedagogy of Transcendence is a mosaic blend of culture, spirituality and feminism. The presenters share lessons learned from a collective twenty-two years in the academy.
