The aim of the current study is to investigate a trajectory pattern of academic burnout across the transition from high-school to college using 1,015 Korean students. Data including academic burnout, perfectionism, academic demands and resources, emotional state as distal outcomes was collected at six measurement waves, starting within the final year of high-school up to the college. Latent class growth analysis for classifying longitudinal trajectories of academic burnout supported five clusters by quadratic function with distinctive trajectory pattern. Multinomial logistic analysis under the 3-Step Approach and group difference test with BCH method identified that a certain group of students with higher academic demands were likely to manage their academic burnout when with enough peer support situationally responsive to transitional period.
