Abstract

Ikeda/Soka Studies is an emerging field of research that includes Soka, or value-creating education. In this study, we employ dialogic inquiry to explore the ways an ethos of value creation led each of us to make methodological choices that draw on narrative and dialogical ways of knowing and being. Through our dialogic inquiry, we arrived at several observations. We pinpointed the realization that an epistemological transformation is qualitatively different from an ontological transformation. Through our examination of the commonalities in both our intentions and in our narrative and dialogic methodologies, the study itself was not just a dialogic inquiry, but it was a dialogic-narrative inquiry with a value-creative intent.
