This study has two purposes. One was to train pre-service elementary teachers in coding so that they could design digital teaching materials and increase their beliefs in technology use in education. Second purpose was to test their materials on fourth grade students’ listening comprehension improvements. Eight pre-service teachers were trained in coding, created their digital materials and observed fourth grade students completing their materials. The results showed that fourth graders completed the digital texts (N=30) have significantly better improved their listening comprehension than the ones completed traditional texts (N=31). Pre-service teachers believe they gained coding skills and their technology competences have increased and this learning environment provided an entertaining, active and individual learning atmosphere for fourth graders.
