Abstract

This paper introduces a descriptive study of curriculum prompts from six different adult educational contexts involving sustainability education, climate justice education, and futurecast cultural imaginaries. Such approaches invite multiple voices and trajectories, as imagined by educator-students and visionary-activists in arts-based and collaborative encounters, to include nonhuman voices and those of imagined (or prophecied) future beings. Mixed methods research considering three applications of Macyian practices for creative future imaginaries in education graduate school at a small liberal arts school and adult climate justice social incubator education students at a community nonprofit. Findings indicated multiple conceptual exposures and collaborative applications brought the longest lasting impact, inspiration, and retention effects, though single exposure and solo work still had significant impact to students.
