Lessons Learned From Leaders Organizing Professional Learning in Cross-Sector Preschool Contexts

Mon, April 8, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

Little is understood about how leaders organize learning for preschool teachers. The present study reports findings from the implementation and outcome studies of a three-year evaluation of a job-embedded professional development model for leaders within cross-sector preschool contexts, funded through the Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge grant program. The model purveyor implemented with fidelity, but the participants did not respond to the core components as intended. The full Implementation of a JEPD system was achieved by only a very small number of participants. As such, there is much to be understood about the professional supports ECE leaders need to more effectively organize their time for providing teachers with routines for collaborative learning.
