A little over a decade after Ladson-Billings attention call towards the educational debt, concerns over the impact of this debt on educational philosophy has yet to gain traction. Using critical pedagogy debates on the functions of critique, I attend to an aspect of this educational debt by discussing the creation of indebted criticism under educational financialization and exemplified by the call-out culture in the classroom.
