Theory, practice, and policy have long been viewed as separate lily pads on the lake of K12 education. This is true, especially, in the area of writing. Teachers of writing are in constant reflective space attempting to reconcile notions of authentic writing, with “good practice” and the necessary strategies and formulas mandated for achievement testing. As a result, partnerships between higher education, k12 education, and outside professional writing organizations anticipate challenges when coming into a community. In the inaugural year of a multi-year inquiry and evaluation of a professional development partnership in K12 writing classrooms, story constellations are revealed across the storied experiences that surface.
