Tue, April 9, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 300 Level, Hall C

Abstract

Using hierarchical linear modeling, we examined the associations among school diversity, teacher and school support, and short- and long-term educational goals. Using a sample of 10,698 Latino students in grades 5th, 8th, 9th, and 11th from the 2016 Minnesota Student Survey. A positive association was found between academic goals and teacher and school support, however as the proportion of Latinos students increased, educational goals and perception of teacher and school support decreased. Implications of these findings are further discussed in the paper.
