Abstract

Virtual ethnography is situated within the history of qualitative research by way of a small study of women who blogged throughout graduate school. In this study, the researcher had no physical contact with the participants or their physical environment. The author makes the case that not only is virtual ethnography in no way lesser than an ethnography that takes place in the same physical location, but to the contrary, this methodology presents important opportunities to use qualitative research to incite poststructural possibilities for thinking otherwise.
