This paper addresses the question of how schools and communities contribute to reverse enduring and persisting inequalities, specially affecting the most vulnerable populations. This topic has been of significance in our research, which has provided evidence of transformative actions and effective interventions conducted in more than 2000 schools in Europe and Latin America. When schools under high challenging circumstances achieve academic and social success for all, many educational myths are dismantled. In a global context where citizenry demands to be engaged in the process of knowledge-creation to achieve socially useful results, this paper discuss the relevance of educational research to challenge educational myths, that is, misconceptions or assumptions that are often used in the classrooms, serving as barriers, especially for the most disadvantaged. Advancing scientific knowledge to guarantee the right for every single child to succeed in education and in life is a worldwide challenge.
