Session Type: Workshop
Data use has taken hold with many SIG members at the forefront of research and development efforts. Yet criticisms and misconceptions abound. The proposed interactive workshop is an exploration of those criticisms by bringing together diverse stakeholders to discuss the field of data use and productively develop agendas for research and development to move the field forward. The objective for the proposed session will be for SIG leaders to facilitate a workshop and interactive discussion session in which SIG members and other AERA attendees can explore agendas that operationalize the research, policy, professional development, and practice issues that might address the concerns and criticisms that currently limit how using data to inform instruction as well as program improvement might operate.
